The children are very excited for Halloween this year. They have their costumes all planned out and are just waiting for April to finish sewing them (more on costumes in a future post).
Tarantula
The other night, we had our pet tarantula out. She is the perfect Halloween spider, in our opinion. Here is Ian demonstrating how to carefully hold a tarantula. Erin threw a small fit because we didn't permit her to hold it--mainly for the safety of the tarantula since Erin isn't always as gentle as she should be.
North Logan Pumpkin Walk
Another family tradition we have is visiting the annual Pumpkin Walk in North Logan. It is held at Elk Ridge Park each year and consists of numerous displays using pumpkins and squash. This year's theme was "Those Were the Days" and featured many exhibits created by different families, school classes, scout troops, church groups, local businesses, etc. In fact, Elvis even made an appearance.

We also recently got some pumpkins for the children to carve. Megan made up her own design featuring a cat in the moonlight. Ian chose to carve bats and ghosts on his. Erin chose to paint hers. First she said she was going to paint a cat, so she got out the black and covered the whole pumpkin. Then she said she was going to paint a white ghost and proceeded to paint most of it white. When she completed her painting, she refused to pose with the final result.
Afterwards, we roasted pumpkin seeds and ate them. Yum!
