Friday we tackled some bush trimming on the south side of the house.
We made a family of mockingbirds a tad nervous, but we were careful
to leave the nest unharmed.
While cleaning up the trimmings, we found a dead spiny lizard on the grass.
We're not sure if it might be a Comet casualty...hopefully not.
Regardless, Dallin found it fascinating to carry around.
"I have a dead lizard!" he kept repeating as he walked around showing it off.
Then Ian came running over to us with his exciting catch of the day:
a ground snake!!!
He had been looking for worms to feed the baby mockingbirds
when he found the snake under leaf and wood debris in the orchard.
It was a very cool find.
No, we did not feed it to the baby birds.
